School Supply Drive for Upbring Foster Care

We send teachers and students back to school with a blessing:  “Jesus is with you wherever you go.”  Pastor Jeff is saying the blessing over the parents, students, and teachers.  Donna Perry is giving out the carabineers shaped in a cross for them to put on their backpack or briefcase to remind them of the blessing.

Blessing for Teachers

We put on a school supply drive for children in Upbring Foster Care.  Volunteers fill backpacks with supplies and the foster parents and children receive them at a Back-To-School Party.  Our foster parents do so much for these children who have been removed from their homes—for whatever reason—and this is an opportunity for us to make the transition back to school less costly.  We have participated in this for several years—all the Lutheran churches in our community (ELCA and Missouri Synod).

Breaking of Bread

The people of the Early Church made a habit of eating together.

Many scholars believe the word "fellowship" used in Acts 2:42 referred to public worship.

The Primary Reason we gather is to hear the teachings of Jesus.

In getting to know God in prayer we become more the people God wants us to be.
